Dahilayan Forest Park – Manolo Fortich

Whether to finish at school with high honors, to win that trophy or gold medal, to get on that stage to perform, to travel around the world, to start that business, or to volunteer and give back to the community, from the words of Lailah Gifty Akita, “no dream is too big to come true because you are born to manifest the glory of God on earth. The pursuit of dreams is the fulfillment of the scriptures and your divine spirit of personal power should inspire you to pursue your dreams.”

But your dream is not just wishful thinking. If you want to make your dreams come true, you have to put in the effort and make a reasonable plan.

Some of the things that I want to do are on my bucket list. As I constantly check on my list, I am amazed at how each of them are being crossed done. The Lord is good, indeed.

Barangay Dahilayan is located at the municipality of Manolo Fortich at Bukidnon. This place is a site most visited by travelers and locals for its tourist attraction – Dahilayan Adventure Park and Dahilayan Forest Park. If you are looking for relaxation and adventure, this is a must visit place in Mindanao.

How to get there

If you don’t have private car, you can avail of the shuttle bus service. One stations at Coffeeworks divisoria near Xavier University. Fare is 350 php back and forth, available saturdays 8:00-8:30 am. It has a capacity of roughly 20 persons. You probably would arrive around 10am as the bus goes directly to the adventure park. Your other option would be a shuttle bus from magnum express, a more modern-safe-fast bus compared to the other one. Fare is 249 php and stations at Limketkai near the souvenir shop. I suggest you take this one, cheaper and more convenient. It goes directly to the forest park just ahead the adventure park.

The Luge ride is one of the cutest ride ever. Very easy to manipulate. You sit down and stretch your legs a bit, you hold the handle. To lounge down the slopping hill, you just pull the handle towards you, enough angle to loosen the clutch that grips its mini wheels. When you feel like you are going too fast or about to turn  a curve, you just push the handle again to put some friction so that it will halt.

It cost 600 per head and you get to ride the Luge twice. Also included in the package is the entrance for the hanging bridge and the mini putt golf.

The hanging bridge is quite the stroll. I thought it would be an easy-peasy but when I got to the middle of the bridge, I felt my knees start to weaken. I got a little panic and my heart started to pump a little faster than normal. My fear hightened when few people on the other end where starting to cross the bridge too.

Forest Putt Mini Golf

The mini golf consist of 18 holes. It was great to play this, I got a hole in one! After the Luge ride, this is perfect to calm those shaking knees after crossing the hanging bridge. If you pay to ride the Luge, this mini gulf is included in the route/package, as well as the hanging bridge. But if you want to try the mini golf separate, that’s 150 until you finish. It was worth it. Time consuming but worth it. 30-45 mins I guess.

Wakeboard Water Sport – Davao City

After having seen so many Philippine Eagle and Crocodiles at the Crocodile Farm, we headed on to our next destination. Taking the calculated short cut using google maps, we cruised the Philippine -Pan National Highway  and arrived at our destination.

Talk about something extreme.

We entered a subdivision called Deca Homes at Mintal, Davao. I wasn’t really familiar with this water sport and how it operated. I imagined some jetski or water boat to drag the wakeboarders. Observing the place while looking to park the car, I saw cables up high pulling the people. I see that the place was man made, kind of like a big pond. This one is oval with tramps and a center island. I wasn’t really that excited. I watched some guys flawlessly gliding above the water while holding a rope that would proper them forward. Some were exhibitioning.

#ProjectSexy2014 #FitnessAndWellness2014

I’ve got this thing going on. I read from a newspaper one time that it’s hard to keep up with your new years resolution, let alone wonder what your new years resolution would be. So in order to make it,  the article writer suggest you do a theme for the whole year and align your focus and activities on the theme that you want to achieve.

Some suggestions where noted using a hash tag so you can easily upload your pic on Twitter and Instagram like #Fearless2014 #Organize2014 #FitnessAndWellness, #NoToDrama2014, etc.

I decided to take on this challenge so this year  I have my own mantra with a theme of #ProjectSexy2014 #FitnessAndWellness #Fearless.


For me this means that I have a goal to cut some flab’s off my tummy and thighs because that’s where it really frustrates me in which I can’t find any good pants to fit me without thinking its over sized.

For my #ProjectSexy2014 to be fully realized I had to squeezed in an hour or more of exercise between my some what busy schedule at work, school, and extra curricular activities. I started on February, before I go to work I do some beginners Cardio work out that I looked up on YouTube. There are a lot of exercises to do so I just choose those that I feel would best serve me for now.

1. Squats 20 preps 3 sets

2. Lounges 10 preps 3 sets

3. Heel raise 10 preps 3 sets

4. Side lounges

5. Forward and back kicks

6. Mountain climbers 10 preps 3 rounds.

7. Crunches

8. Leg raise

9. Russian Twist

I mostly mix them up and add some more from the work out videos I see online. Thank God for them. I’m a bit  health conscious except for when there is pizza and pasta around. Hee! 🙂 This of course has been on ever since I was in high school. I remember borrowing some work out videos from Ma’am Babes Ferolina, a fitness instructor who teaches our church aerobics and belly dancing and now is the number one instructor for Zumba in Gensan. Through her videos I got introduced to Yoga, Aerobics, and Pilates. I love Pilates but I find it very challenging! Not to mention my sporty lifestyle. #SelfAwareness 😀


This theme goes hand in hand with the #ProjectSexy2014. It means complimenting my daily routine with not only the right food to eat but totally changing my lifestyle and habits to whats best for my over all being. ahem. 🙂

Food – to eat as much green vegetables and fruits as possible. Its a bit hard to totally change your diet if you are a meat lover. So for the transition I had to seriously cut on the meat that I eat, as if I eat a lot of meat. Usually I eat pork menudo for dinner everyday or BBQ at Gina’s so I had to do something with that. It depends on my mood on what I eat as long as I know what I eat. I got help again online for some diet food weekly planner. Your intake would depend on your height, weight and the level of activities you do for the week. It is important to incorporate all those in the food pyramid.

I drink soya milk, yogurt and yakult. I eat my fave pork or beef twice a week. Pasta, pizza, fruit shakes, fresh juice and lots of water.

No alcohol just sparkling wine. hehe 🙂

Spirit and Soul – I have to take care also of my spiritual time so a 30-45 min quite time I have incorporated on my morning which is always every time I wake up. I usually wake up 6 am. Currently I am reading a daily devotion entitled Enter His Gates. This was bought at your favorite OMF Lit. store. Being one with the Almighty in serenity coupled with meditation helps a lot and empowering when you start your day with it.

Mind – The mind is a battle field. It takes effort to change your mind, to change your perspective and with my theme I got to take the extra mile. So for this battle field I turn to reading books. Books give me insights and broadens my imagination. Books not only the Bible or daily devotions but also those inspirational, motivational, financial, and sometimes fictional. It depends really.

Positive affirmations and believing on what is the truth will help to have a light aura and a positive vibe which all starts in the mind. No negative talks. No gossips. No worries. No fear.

Believe me its a lot harder that you think. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. In the end you will be happy and proud of yourself for doing what you want to do and sticking to the plan as opposed to complaining why you didn’t do it in the first place.


It’s a theme for daring to go out of my comfort zone. Now this is a very HARD thing for me cause I am an introvert (just making an excuse maybe). For me being fearless is to face that audience and crowd whenever I step on the stage. Gosh I really get so freaking afraid and conscious that sometimes I forget every thing even if i prepared for it.  I have nothing else to say about that for now but will update you all on my status on #Fearless soon  as I am trying my best to step it up 😉

A Tribute To My Jerseys

I find myself looking for my basketball jerseys when I got home from the mall today. I remember some of my friends in the team asking me to give it to them. The most interesting part comes when I realize the coincidence of my jersey numbers. All of you might know Kobe Bryant, the famous Basketball Player who is my role model in basketball. His jersey number was 8, right? And just recently he just changed his number to 24. So now look at the astonishment on my face when I saw my jersey’s number:


Yes, it’s all 24. Well not really all. 2 upper jerseys are missing and 1 was already given. So I’m just going to travel back in time and let you in on the history of my jerseys throughout my span in college life at MSU-IIT. If my memory serves me right:

On the upper right with color orange and black was my jersey at the time I joined a camp and play league on my high school year at Hope Christian School. There were only 2 of us girls who joined.

University Level

2007: 1st year student athlete. Jersey number was 3. Jersey color was green. Jersey Type: fishing net (hahaha. Sorry Coach)

2008: 2nd year student athlete. Jersey number was 4. Jersey color was yellow. Jersey type: fishing net

2009: 3rd year student athlete. We have 2 jerseys. 1 was provided by the school, in red and white color. My number was 24. You can see it in the picture above. Lower right corner. The other was a neat jersey, Black Hawks, a combination of black-white-red, again my number was 24. See photo.

2010: 4th year student athlete. The jersey is not in the picture. The color is yellow and blue (Sphinx) and my jersey number then was 10.

College Level (well not really college since its called a school)

In the upper left of the photo, that jersey was when I’m on my senior year at the School of Computer Studies, IIT. The jersey below that was our jersey in the junior year in the college competing for the Palakasan. My sophomore basketball jersey, with # 21, was given to a teammate.

I also would like to share my volleyball jerseys.


On the left was my junior jersey while on the right was my senior year jersey.

I also had a badminton jersey for our college which unfortunately wasn’t returned to me when it got switched by the laundry shop to some other person’s laundry. I still want to get that back. 😀

My latest jersey was given to me by my team during the Palakasan 2012 when I got back to IIT.

So yeah that’s my stuff. I’ll update you all soon.

Jordan says Kobe is the only one to deserve comparison

While checking out yahoo news, I came across a very interesting sports news article. It’s an article about Kobe being the only one closest to be compared to Michael Jordan. I say? it’s about time. haha.  I never really am an MJ fan. I am a Kobe fan. My time was with Kobe, not with MJ so I never really had the opportunity to watch MJ was he was still at Bulls doing all his great stuffs. That was not my era. I is to Kobe as my dad is to MJ. 🙂

None of the links above where the ones featured in the yahoo news I was telling you about in my first lines. But all articles say the same thing. As it has always been, from the moment I saw Kobe play with the original laker five starting line up – Shaq, Fisher, Horry, Fox, – a few years back in my elementary years, I know there is something different, special about him. He is one of the greatest players I  have witness in this era and until now, he still is.

The similarity between Michael and Kobe can’t be denied. They are both champion material. Both have already made it to the top. Sometimes I think, when I watch Kobe play, almost to the point of dribbling, shooting, dunking, cross over-side-step-fade-away-jump-shot, every move , both are so similar. Kobe is, for me, what makes basketball so beautiful.  The way he executes, the way he plays speaks to me what b-a-s-k-e-t-b-a-l-l is. I just love the game. 😀

Kobe’s ultimate competition is MJ. That’s why MJ watches him. MJ made people think what he was doing wasn’t human. Ditto the Kobester.

I never said Kobe was better than MJ. MJ just told me Kobe’s the only one to have done the work, to deserve comparison.

I know a lot of people are Kobe haters. I also know that comparing both of them would get us a lot of arguments. And that some people prefer other players to be the ‘next MJ’. But the thing is, there is nothing to compare. Both are great. Both showed who they are and that’s enough to get us going. Both are so similar yet so different. What Jordan said was compliment cause he knows Bryant.

Don’t get me started on talking about Lebron James (who?). The person/name doesn’t deserve to be in the same article as with the legendary MJ and KB. Heck, in the same sentence for that matter. haha! He is way out of league with his mojo every game. Geez, give me a break.

Anyway, I hope Kobe and his team get it this year. It’s going to be tough. So sad he had a divorce though, tsk. 😦

It’s Not Wrong to be Happy Lebron James Lost (repost)

I still can’t get over the fact the Lebron lost. It’s not that I feel sorry for the man, I don’t. In fact he deserves it. I can’t stop myself from reading articles about how Lebron James was a ‘choke’ in the NBA finals mostly from, I guess, Lebron haters because I truly enjoy all the criticism for him (omg, I feel like a bad person. hahaha). I really don’t like the guy. He came into the NBA so full of himself, it serves him right to not get this year’s title. He even made God an excuse for how he didn’t win. Seriously Lebron, you’re full of excuse and with this one I hope you would never get a ring EVER. But of course the rest of the Heat team was okay. But I’m not saying I like the Miami Heat. I am a Laker fan and a Kobe fan and will always be.
